        new sign, Boring, Oregon, 2012

Not sure what to make of this sign…never seen this exact wording… Did the management decide to “just say no” to the dancers? Did the supply run out like “no more unleaded”? Did the dancers just pack up and leave abruptly? Is this actually a  ”protest sign?”… I guess Boring is actually a bit more boring now for some people.

Mokume Gane necklace in sterling silver, shibuichi and copper by me:o)

Available now in our shop Oak Mountain Jewellery

Mokume gane is an old Japanese technique for creating mixed-metal woodgrain patterns. Thanks to Hadar Jacobson, I have learned to make such patterns from metal clay. I just had to try making my own metal clays of traditional Japanese alloys to incorporate in this work and have now successfully made both shibuichi and shakudo clays by mixing commercially available clays in gold, silver and copper. I am really happy with the result, but it took forever to get it right… I can’t really afford metal clays at the moment so this technique will be an occasional treat to myself.

Raku fired porcelain clay Octopus tile in a fine silver bezel, accompanying fine silver skull bead and ‘twist’, glass and stone beads, Vintaj chain with hemp ropes. Displayed with wood burned craft box.

This is pretty much my favorite of the necklaces I’ve made. I really had fun with it.

also haha! first real tumblr post!

Closeup of my Japanese style seed pod necklace with hand made mokume gane beads. I really love the old Japanese alloys shibuichi and shakudo. Particularly the dark purple shakudo but it’s damn expensive…
